The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the best crafting?

Crafting is a strange subset of MMO play, when you think about it. For some folks, it’s incredibly important; for the rest, chances are they hardly think about it. It’s typically lacking the sort of interaction and feedback we get from combat, is a huge money and time sink, and usually offers less reward for more effort than raiding or other forms of loot acquisition

The Daily Grind: When have you felt a sense of completion?

By their very nature, MMOs discourage being done. Not necessarily in an insidious sense — but when your game relies upon people playing it for months on end, there’s a natural emphasis on letting tasks stretch off to infinity. But while it’s certainly possible to wind up with almost astonishingly long-running tasks, such as assembling the Relic Weapons in Final Fantasy XI , with enough persistence you eventually arrive at the day when you have your brand-new Excalibur.

The Daily Grind: Out on the town

There are an awful lot of things to do in most MMOs. Sometimes it’s the diverse spread of activities available in a game like Final Fantasy XI ; other times it’s the tiered progression of dungeons in a game like World of Warcraft . Either way, it’s all fun, but with a long-term goal in mind.
