It’s a ship in a box in Star Trek Online

Filed under: Sci-Fi , Expansions , Previews , News Items , Star Trek Online , Free-to-Play Just because you’re playing a Romulan in Star Trek Online ’s first expansion doesn’t mean every other Romulan is your friend. Empress Sela’s Tal Shiar are a huge threat not just to the nascent Romulan Republic but to all sentient life throughout the galaxy, epitomized with their insectoid ships that fuse Romulan, Borg, and Elachi technology together. Needless to say, these ships are never good to see on the horizon.

It’s not just about what will occur in the game’s story; it’s how the story is being told

Neverwinter counters Foundry exploit by nerfing XP rate

Filed under: Betas , Fantasy , Patches , Free-to-Play , Neverwinter , Player-Generated Content Cryptic is cracking down on player-created missions that utilize certain exploits to gain XP faster than normal in Neverwinter’s Foundry. While the studio temporarily banned authors for making these missions in the Foundry, it looks as though a recent patch has addressed the situation by “tweaking” the amount of XP that a player can gain within a set period of time. Apparently some Foundry authors had been creating missions designed to pay out the maximum amount of XP by allowing near-nonstop combat.

Star Trek Online dev diary details new species: The Remans

Filed under: Sci-Fi , Expansions , News Items , Star Trek Online , Free-to-Play , Dev Diaries Star Trek Online ’s Legacy of Romulus expansion is slated for release in just over two weeks from now, and if you’ve been keeping up with the onslaught of dev diaries, you know that means new ships , new fashions , and of course, new playable alien species. The most recent dev diary from the folks at Cryptic Studios focuses on the Romulans’ slightly nastier counterparts, the Remans. Players will be able to unlock Remans as a playable species in one of two ways: They can either purchase it from the C-Store (standalone or as part of the Legacy Pack) or “achieve Tier 5 in the New Romulus Reputation.” Remans, of course, come with their own unique racial traits, including the powerful Mind Drain ability, described as “a powerful single-target psychic attack which drains vital essence from the victim to the caster.” Sounds rather unpleasant to us.
